The color guard is an extension of the marching band. The nine-member squad is an audition-based group open to 10th – 12th graders with auditions held each spring for the Memorial Day parade and the following school year. Prerequisites to membership include mastery of flag twirling skills, ability to march and create a “routine” for each marching band performance. The group uses a team effort to produce the routine and works with the director in preparation for each parade. Participation at the middle school level color guard is a plus. Color guard members must also be enrolled in one of the instrumental ensembles.
